Houston Dynamo paid a record transfer fee for Ezequiel Ponce.
What does this mean for the team?
The Dynamo general manager, Pat Onstad, believes Ponce is the type of player who can push Houston closer to its goal of an MLS championship.
Ponce is a forward who works very hard and scores goals on a regular basis. He can stretch the line and has the ability to press and create turnovers.
Who is Ezequiel Ponce?
Ponce, who most recently played for AEK in Athens, Greece, joined the Dynamo on a full transfer contract last month.
He has played 247 matches in total, adapting to different countries and teams, including Italy, Russia, France, and Spain.
Why did the Dynamo choose Ponce?
Onstad said the Dynamo were looking for a forward who fits their style of play, a player who can lead the line and be aggressive on offense and defense.

The Dynamo saw so much in Ponce that they paid the highest transfer fee in club history to acquire him, reportedly $8 million.
What comes next?
Ponce will look to make an impact on the team, with his first match approaching. He hopes to encounter Lionel Messi soon, a player from his hometown.
The Dynamo will face Vancouver Whitecaps in their next fixture, looking to improve their standing in the league.
