Houston Dynamo's new 'Mission Control' jersey has sparked criticism from ESPN analyst Ryan Rosenblatt, who ranked it last among 30 MLS teams' alternate kits. The jersey, unveiled on Wednesday, is inspired by Houston's pioneering spirit in space exploration and features a pattern of black road lines throughout. According to Chief Marketing Officer Graham Wincott, the jersey represents the city's mindset: focused, united and ready for liftoff. However, Rosenblatt was unimpressed, stating that the jersey is ugly and resembles a satellite view of the metro area's major roadways. The Dynamo's newest jersey will be showcased at the club's annual Fan Fest at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday, where fans can attend for free and watch the team play a preseason game against the New York Red Bulls. The Dynamo will then hold their 2026 season opener on February 21 against the Chicago Fire. Houston won't leave town at all in February, with its first road game taking place on March 7. The club's most dedicated supporters will have the opportunity to experience the new release up close and personal. The 'Mission Control' jersey is a statement about who Houston is and where it is headed, said Wincott. The jersey's design is understandable, but the execution has been met with criticism. The Dynamo's history of alternate kits has been praised by ESPN in the past, most notably the 2018 alternate kit that paid homage to the Houston Astros' tequila sunrise uniforms. The club's fans will have to wait and see how the new jersey performs on the field.
